Collar Question

I am hoping to get some tips from the other cat owners out there about putting a collar on Bubbles. Although I have had cats my entire life, this is the first time I've tried to put a collar on one. I've tried this before, but he just lost his collar (and tags). So after I removed the e-collar, I thought this would be a good time to try once again. I posted pictures of the collars I've tried, but he got both of them off after a couple of days. Are these not good collars to use? Am I not putting it on tight enough (I put it on so I can still get my finger in between the collar and his neck)? Any tips would be much appreciated.

By the way, check out Monkeybunkey Business for the cutest pictures and videos I've seen in a long time.

Preference is for the quick disconnect in case you need to get it off quick or it gets caught on something.

Derby at first got out of his collar often. Then get got used to it and doesn't work it off. Just keep putting it on.

My mum hasn't found a collar I can't break yet. Hi there, I never saw your blog before but I am always glad to meet other kitty bloggers. I am a Gorgeous Ginger kitty blogging in London, UK. I can sympathize with Mrs. B, I have been on a diet for a long time and I weigh 21 lb, so she seems quite skinny to me! That's why they call me Fat Eric...Come and visit me at my blog sometime.

I have to say the break away collars are the best because if they get stuck they aren't really stuck. Just have to keep trying.

DKM tries to use the break away collar on me - it works most of the time. I she wants to be sure I don't loose it when I'm outside, she puts on my harness.

I agree w/Derby. The breakaway is best for kitties who go outside at all. My Marley goes out on a tether, supervised of course. I check on him every few minutes and I'm just afraid that one of these times he'll get stuck or need to get away and w/the breakaway he can. Ok, I'll quit babbling! ;)

Momma never puts them on us, cuz she worries we will getted hurt. Edsel is a Houdini and can get any collar off, anytime, anywhere. Maybe you could ask him.

Mom read at a rescue site that you can make cheap collars frum half to one inch sewing elastic (for waste bands). It cums in a roll like ribbon. Just measure it round Bubbles' neck, cut a piece, sew the ends together, and write yur phone number wif a permanent marker (Sharpie). That way, it'll stretch off if it gets caught an won't cost lots when he misplaces it.

My collar's like the big pictor an Bonnie's is like the little pictor, but we nefur take them off an only go outside on a harness wif Mom on a leash at the ofur end. That keeps her safe.

Manny has a collar even though he's an indoor cat. All the shelter cats have them. They are really similar to the ones that you shown.
