Coming in November - The Story of Mrs. B.

This November it will be 5 years since Mrs. B came to live with me. Recently I was in contact with the Nice Lady that rescued her, and she told me more about Mrs. B's rescue and struggles before she came to live with me. So this November I will share that story with the rest of the cat blogosphere.

Remember that you have until midnight Tuesday to submit your entries for the I love the 2 Bs competition.

Winter in the house of the 2 Bs

This is basically how the 2 Bs spend the entire winter - one on each side of the heater. And remember this is Baton Rouge, it is not even very cold! So prepare yourselves to see pleny of pictures like this over the next few months.

911 - Emergency

We had a huge emergency last night. Do you remember that Bubbles chose a little red mouse as his very special toy from all the goodies Grr, Midnight & Cocoa sent?

Well, last night he was playing with it, tossing it up in the air and pouncing on it. And then he LOST it!

We looked everywhere. He was making little chirping sounds like he makes when he loses his real live mice under the sofa. I moved stuff around. Looked under stuff and on top of stuff. I even looked in my sneakers. At last we found it. It was hiding in a corner behind the sofa.
Whew, it nearly got away.

We love Grr, Midnight & Cocoa

We received a package from Grr, Midnight & Cocoa. It was the second place prize we won in their "telling Grr, Midnight & Cocoa apart" contest. It was a very difficult contest and we were very excited to win a prize. Here are all the goodies we got. Meowmie said we could each choose one toy to play with now, and the rest is for later.

Mrs. B wanted to smell the T'ations, but she also wanted to grab the Fev-ver-butt mouse. "You can only choose one Mrs. B!" (click to biggify)

Bubbles immediately chose the little red mouse to play with.

Well, I guess he made his choice.

We also invited our friend Farley to join us and he really loved the nip. Meowmie put some for him on the turbo-scratcher. It must be 'cause it was from Grr, Midnight and Cocoa's purrsonal nip stash! It sure is good stuff.

Thanks Grr, Midnight & Cocoa! You are the bestest!

Formerly Feral Friday

Darling Millie started Formerly Feral Friday for all of the ex-feral cats that are now part of our daily lives. Here is a contributon from Bubbles to show that even a wild gladiator cat loves a bit of TLC.

Mrs. B in her cat-bed

We forgot to do Tuxie Tuesday, so today we are doing Tuxie Thursday. This is want Mrs. B is doing at this very moment. I just took the pictures, and she is still sleeping in the same position. She is showing her foot as proof that this is indeed a Tuxie. (Click to biggify the pictures)

I love my Cube

When I first bought this cube for Bubbles, he did not really care much for it. However, now he is crazy about it. Every mouse he catches are dutifully deposited inside. He also likes to run and dive into it. And it turns out it is the perfect place to ambush Mrs. B from. And if nobody wants to play with him, it is also good for a nice nap.

Since he loves it so much, we have decided that the 3 winners of the I love the 2Bs Competition will each receive a cube as part of their prize. Don't forget that the deadline for the competition is October 31 (Halloween), 2006. You can see the first entry from Tigger Tales as well as the instructions for entering the competition here.

Patches Man

Around our apartment building there are several stray cats. Here is a picture of one I call Patches Man. (Sorry about the bad quality of the picture, it was taken late at night without a flash.) I have a soft spot for PM. I don't really know why. He is very wild and runs away when I try to approach him. He also gets into fights with Bubbles! I've been putting out food for him, but without much success. Many people walk their dogs in the field behind out apartment where PM lives and if they don't get to the food, the ants does. I'm a little worried about him, because it looks like they are going to build on, at least part of the open field where her lives.

We are approaching our 5,000 th visitor! Yey! If you are visitor number 5,000 please let me know, because there might be a little something comming your way.

UPDATE: To see what number visitor you are, look at the Site Meter on the left, above the "I love the 2 Bs Competition" logo.

Can you tell the difference?

Our apartment building has a really nice courtyard. Bubbles and Farley (the neighbour's cat) enjoy hanging out there. They especially like dozing in the shade of two big old green plants that make for the best cat-naps.

Last week our landlord decided that the plants were getting too big and that they needed to be cut down. Now, I agree that they needed to be cut back somewhat. But was this really necessary? Here is a 'before' picture. (Click to biggify)

And the 'after' picture. Does that not look sad?

Here is a 'before' picture of the other plant. This picture was actually taken during hurricane Rita last year.

And once again, the'after' picture.

I guess we just have to wait patiently for the plants to grow again. *Sigh*

Tuxie Tuesday Too

Tuxie Tuesday Too was started by DaisyMae Maus for all the cute Tuxies out there. I'm a bit late posting the pictures, cause I wanted to take some new pics of Mrs. B, but she was not in the mood. Well, I bribed her with some treats, so here are some pics of a very cranky Mrs. B.

Also check out some other Tuxies at: House of the (Mostly) Black Cats, 2Carolina Cats, Manx Mnews, Whisper and Rocky's Ramblings.

A (hopefully) Fun Competition.

Take a picture with the 'I love the 2Bs' logo and win!

If you cannot, or don't want to take a "real" picture, you can also add the logo to an existing picture using computer software. I have no idea what the prizes will be yet, but I imagine kittycrack or stinky goodness might be involved.

I created a "I love the 2 Bs" blog where you can find more details about where to send the pictures as well as example pictures. There are 3 catagories you can compete in. I will post all the submitted pictures on that blog. You can also reach that blog by clicking on the "I love the 2 Bs" logo on the left. (BTW, I shamelessly stole this idea from Lucy.)

The deadline for the competition is 31 Oct 2006.

Trying to teach Mrs. B with Treats

As you all know Mrs. B is on a diet, so she has to work for her treats. Last night I was about to put the treats in the ball, and then I wondered whether I could teach her to sit up for her treats like Rascal and Catzee. BTW, I using the treats Skeezix sent in his party pack.

OK, she is definately interested in the treats.

Left paw up.

Right paw up.

Both feet off the ground!

Ouch!

Well, both her front feet were off the ground, so I count that as a success! Now I just have to get her to sit pretty and let me give her the treat. I hope I have fingers left by the time she learns that.

Mrs. B and the Beautifull Fall Day

Well, I hear it is a beautifull Fall day outside. Maybe I should go see what that is all about.

Yes, it looks like a lovely day.
I think I will go downstairs and eat some grass in the courtyard.

Wait...
What is Meowmie doing?

Does she have the flashy thing again!
Can't she leave me alone for a single minute and let me enjoy the day?

I've had it with the flashy thing! Even if it is not flashing outside.
Enough already!

Grrffffff!
Take a picture of this!
